Webmail help and hints
If you use webmail, may I suggest you sign up for a GMail, or Googlemail account? It is the best of the bunch, and doesn't seem to suffer from being blocked out like a number of other web based email systems, notably Hotmail and Yahoo. Go to http://mail.google.com/mail/signup for an account.
If you must use webmail rather than a local POP3
email client like Outlook Express or Eudora
there are one or two housekeeping issues to help you not bouncing
emails back at people.
Firstly, make sure that you don't overfill your
storage allowance. The meagre storage available in Hotmail for
example is soon used up and then no further email can be received.
Second, make sure you delete the contents of the
Spam or Unsolicited email folders. Overlooked they will contribute
to a full storage quota. Also delete the contents of the 'Deleted
Items' and 'Sent Mail' as they may take some time to be purged
and count towards your allowance.
If you have an 'allowed' list, make sure the addresses
used at this site are included in the list, and that you place
these addresses in your address book.
If you are able to, set yourself up with a POP3
account with your ISP. A guide to setting up Outlook Express is
here.
